WWI, day 2 (part 2)

And now for the evening session.

As hoped, I managed to get a third crack at Wrath of the Lick King, and unlike the previous two encounters probably could've stayed on as long as I wanted but events overtook things: Sunday evening was the concerts, with first the in-house band Level 70 Elite Tauren Chieftain (L70ETC) followed by Video Games live.

Now, the music of L70ETC isn't really to my taste, but it was an entertaining show and the guys worked the audience and played on the Alliance-Horde split, and also introduced us to the Murloc Mating cry (because when you here the mmmmrrgg sound all WOW players are familiar with, "you know you're screwed") with "I am Murloc." In addition to the obvious Warcraft themed songs, they did one for Starcraft and another for Diablo. I'm not sure if its usual practice at their concerts, but after each song they 'levelled up' a couple of levels, and by the end of the gig they were Lvl 80 Elite Tauren Chieftain :)

The second concert, Video Games Live, was a much more polished affair - a full orchestra (with special guests on piano and guitar at various points), performing the various Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo tracks, including the premier of music for the newly announced Diablo III. The piano version of the Warcraft II soundtrack was skillfully executed (but letdown badly by the PA) though the highlight of the show has to be the rendition of Lament of the Highborn (Sylvanas' Lamanet, familiar to Blood Elf adventurers).

And that, as they say, is more or less that.

One last thing: Blizzard didn't say when Wrath of the Lich King was due to be released (and its clear there's considerable work to do) but I did overhear one snippet this weekend; the a gentleman on the stand of the company who makes the EZ-board keyboards was talking about their overlays, namely the original WOW one and the one produced for the Burning Crusade. He said they'd be producing one for WotLK (no surprise there) and said that it might be available in October, leading me to suspect that that's the release target for Wrath (my money has been on Later September-early November for a while, which this seems to fit). That may just be wishful thinking though - we'll have to see.
